I
first met Gordon at pool 2 when I moved here in 1998. Most everyone
there knows Gordon. Going to the pool was his love. His wife said he
died the way he would have wanted go. He never wanted to give up
going to pool 2 and Pauly worried about it but would not take that
away from him.
He has touch my life and
will be forever fondly remembered. He called his wife of 65
years, Pauly, I use to think he was saying Polly since he had the
New England accent. I finally learned it was Pauly for Pauline, she
was the love of his life. He told everyone about Pauly. Pauly this
and Pauly that.
I was Blessed to finally met her at our local Bingo and played Bingo
with her for a long time. We have been friends since. My prayers are
out to her and her family. God Bless them all.
Bye for now Gordon.

Gordon Courchene
93, still riding his 2003 Yamaha scooter, continued to go to
pool 2 on his scooter
to visit everyone.
Tues. Jan. 4th, 2011 somewhere around 2:45 pm Gordon hit the
back of a parked van on Oriole Drive
and Bird. He was flown to Holmes Regional Medical Center in
Melbourne where he died.
A veteran of World Was II Gordon was one of the first
soldiers to land on the island of New Guinea,
where allied forces fought the Japanese until the war ended
in 1945. He was wounded as he worked
on a tower during military campaign in the south Pacific.
Swimmer at pool 2 in Barefoot Bay for many years. He
continued to go there daily to visit and talk to
everyone there. He just loved to do that and his wife
Pauline of 65 years continue to support him in
that activity.
